Bringing comfort and joy to very ill children and their parents or guardians.

A classmate commented that she thought something was wrong; Rashone was not his happy go lucky self. That sums up the world gone terribly wrong for this high school junior. A number of doctors visits later it was confirmed that this formally healthy boy had a brain tumor and needed to be operated on as soon as possible.  Six operations later the benign tumors were gone and the long arduous task of rehabilitation began.

We first met Rashone and his family while he was in rehab and there was no doubt that only a basketball room would do.  He also needed a computer to keep up with his school lessons.  After a discussion with the therapist at rehab the computer was also loaded with the kind of games that would stimulate the brain functions and could speed Rashone’s recovery.

Since Rashone would be in a wheelchair for a period of time the bathroom was renovated to accommodate his needs and Welcome Home Angel, Inc. contacted St. Andrews Church men’s group who built a ramp to help with access. Our Guardian Angels found a very generous man who donated a van so that Rashone’s mother could transport Rashone to his appointments and she could get to work.
